Are orbs really spirits?

"There's not the smallest orb which thou behold'st But in his motion like an angel sings."  - William Shakespeare

The sunrise brought me a green orb. Several of my snaps this morning had one at different locations in the sky and as it drew closer created a pink aura around it.

Orbs are a curious phenomenon filled with legend and folklore. Often discounted as an artifact in digital photography causing a reflection of light on dust but many believe it is a spirit close by. What do you believe?  Orb beliefs tend to align with your feelings about spirits in general and your religious faith.

The Orb Zone Theory (OZT), by The Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena (ASSAP), is an extension of the "circle of confusion" theory in photography that explains away orbs as an area of unfocused highlights in the image. Often natural occurring orbs are captured during low-light instances where the camera's flash is used in digital photography.  Well that explains that...but what about when a flash is not used, like in the photo above? Are these paranormal orbs?

Orbs come in many colors and the colors have meanings. For me, since my youngest son, Tucker's death,  orbs often show up green and often are accompanies by God's Light sun rays behind them. In spiritual practice, green is associated with the heart and nature.

Green orbs are thought to be an indication of the presence of a human spirit, rather than one that was never on Earth in human form. Green orbs can represent love, oneness with nature and is considered a healing spirit. Pink auras represent natural healers, sensitivity and discernment, lovers and fighters of injustice, imaginative and strong-willed with high moral standards, honesty and fairness. (very Tucker like) Some believe that the orb colors (and their aura colors) represent the entity’s personality, emotional state and intention.

Unfortunately the jury is still out on orbs and their meanings. The skeptics will lean towards dust and atmospheric influences and the believers with grasp at the chance that they saw a spirit, especially if it occurs in connection with a person that they have lost. I guess it boils down to if you believe in the existence of spirits at all.  Scientist and paranormal researchers will continue to duke this one out. Me, I will just be grateful for the little reminders of my sweet son and the little green orbs that keep finding their way to me.
